Created with a Cor-Ten steel base and a Sinker Cypress top, this patio dining table is designed with simple, clean lines and brings a natural beauty to your garden oasis. For our outdoor patio tables, we started with Sinker Cypress as the top. Sinker Cypress is cypress logs which have been submerged in water since the late 1800s. These logs were ax harvested from virgin forests during the industrial cypress harvest from 1880 to 1930. The best trait of sinker cypress is its external durability and longevity. You can expect this wood to last over 75 years. Sinker Cypress's durability is its natural preservative oil known as cypresseine. Cypresseine gives the wood resistance to rot and insect attack. This virgin timber has very tight growth rings which makes it dense, stable and durable. Sinker Cypress is often used to obtain LEED points (The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Green Building Rating System).
